Dr Oetker Hospitality
Dr Oetker Hospitality is a subsidiary of the larger Dr Oetker corporation headquartered in Bielefeld, Germany. During the global Covid pandemic the company proceeded to roll-out it’s pudu pudu pudding dessert concept to the U.S. market.
The Challenge:
With restrictions on travel, find a U.S. partner with deep expertise in the Restaurant business and strong relationships throughout the supply chain to manage all procurement aspects of this process.
The Solution:
Dr Oetker Hospitality hired Procure4 to be their local US resource for the sourcing of all Food and Beverage ingredients for their first store in Venice, CA. This extended to also handling the construction process for their 2nd and 3rd locations in Silverlake, CA and Century City, CA.
The Results:
Procure4 assisted Dr Oetker Hospitality to roll-out pudu pudu at a cost of supply below target levels with investment at a fraction of the projected CapEx cost. The model is now ready for expansion to further planned stores in suburban L.A. County.
“I don’t consider Procure4 a third-party provider anymore, but a department of Dr. Oetker Hospitality because of how responsible they feel for the success of our business. I’ve worked with many third-party providers, and I know that this is uncommon. In my mind, they do more than they are paid for, and I fully trust them.”

Dr. Oetker Hospitality is a small subsidiary of the larger Dr Oetker corporation headquartered in Bielefeld, Germany. During the middle of the global pandemic, a team of nine people were tasked with launching two new food concepts - pudu pudu, a pudding dessert concept in the US and a second product line in Germany.
Challenge
With COVID restrictions ongoing, only the managing director, Florian Schneider, could be on the ground to oversee and manage the rollout of pudu pudu. As a foreign entity, Dr. Oetker Hospitality needed a trusted US partner with deep expertise in hospitality and strong relationships throughout the supply chain network to give them more leverage and add capacity to the team.
Approach
Dr. Oetker Hospitality initially hired Procure4 to manage procurement and supply chain for the launch of their first pudu pudu store in Venice, CA. Procure4’s extensive industry knowledge, holistic approach, and exceptional work ethic quickly earned them Dr. Oetker Hospitality’s full trust.
The project evolved into an end-to-end solution with Procure4 handling the construction process for their second and third locations in Silverlake, CA and Century City, CA. Procure4 managed everything from negotiations and the hiring of all contractors to full procurement and supply chain management, which included every function and product required to build and operate a store, with the exception of Human Resources, Accounting, and Marketing.
Results
Procure4 successfully helped Dr. Oetker Hospitality roll out pudu pudu from prototype to a second and third store at a fraction of the projected CapEx cost.
Through smart negotiations and their unique approach to procurement, Procure4 lowered the cost of supply to below target levels. The model is now ready for expansion and Procure4 will manage and oversee the construction of pudu pudu’s fourth and fifth stores planned for suburban L.A. county.
